Much of Valerie’s career has been focused on efforts to improve the reliability of healthcare systems which provide clinical and administrative oversight for the delivery of patient care. She has been committed to implementing strong partnerships between patients and healthcare providers.
Valerie has directed clinical services and organizational effectiveness initiatives in a variety of healthcare settings, including physician practices, small and large hospitals, academic compliance programs, and legal aspects of clinical care.
Valerie has led teams of healthcare professionals in designing and implementing strategies to improve communication, coordination of care, and patient safety. These initiatives have affected how clinical care is delivered across disciplines, within and between hospitals and healthcare organizations.
During her career as a nurse and healthcare administrator, Valerie has held a leadership role in hospital coordination and participation in Houston’s city-wide disaster-preparedness initiatives which are designed to improve communication and rapidity of response between EMS and hospitals in mass casualty disasters.
Valerie’s collective experiences have brought recognition to the fact that there are many stakeholders, including patients, who must work together to build reliable systems which reduce risk and promote collaboration.
