Dr. Al Davies is the primary initiator, inventor and creator of the PatientCentral System and its modules. His ideas stem from his clinical, administrative, scientific, business, and regulatory experience. Dr. Davies’ background is in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Davies has been practicing Critical Care Medicine and Emergency Medicine in major academic centers, private community hospitals, and indigent care county hospitals. He was the Medical Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas for fourteen years, and was the Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. He was Associate Director of the Duke University Medical Center Emergency Room. He was Acting Chief of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Section at Baylor College of Medicine and Chief of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Service at The Methodist Hospital. Dr. Davies has provided medical care to patients in Tropical Storm Allison, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Ike.
Dr. Davies has gained insight into hospital operations and patient perspectives from serving on hospital committees, including serving as Chair of the Medical Quality Management Subcommittee, Chair of Code Blue Committee, a member of Medicine Service Line Operational Committee, member of Nurse-Physician Communication Team, member of the ER-ICU Committee, a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, a member of the Biomedical Ethics Committee, and a member of the Patient Care Information System Team.
Dr. Davies has developed a number of medical informatics tools for physician documentation. Dr. Davies has experience in both hospital and medical school environments, in business, in computer programming, in productivity improvement, in process improvement and quality management.
